Canoes at Reading

Well above the tideway now, Reading was having a canoe regatta the day we went through, though nobody had told the lockkeepers, so it came as a complete surprise to us. At one point we were asked to just hold back a bit while they started a race. Sorry chum, even going upstream you can't pull up 17 tonnes of boat just like that, so I'm going to insist on my right of way.
